I know you are saying to yourself "CVS IS EXPENSIVE!!!" and yes to go in and just buy something off the shelf it can be. BUT, there tricks to CVS and now I RARELY spend much money AT ALL at CVS, they just give me stuff free!
The key to CVS is "rolling" your Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) on other ECB products.
For example, I had $4.00 ECBs today to use from last week. (ECBs are used JUST like cash only they have to be used on a FUTURE purchase.
So, I walk into CVS. (stay with me here)
I have 4 packs of Stayfree pads. (sorry if that offends anyone) at $3.39 a pack.
Total would be $13.56
BUT I have 2 Buy One Get One Free coupons from the Sunday paper.
That takes my total to $6.78
THEN I hand over my $4.00 ECB from LAST week and my grand total IS
$2.78 + TAX
BUT IT GETS BETTER!
Each pack EARNS me $2.00 in NEW ECB BUT they don't care if you have B1G1 coupons. So $2.00x4-$8.00 NEW ECBS!!!!
It's best to do separate transactions at CVS (they are used to it..really they don't care.)
So, now I work a deal where this week you spend $15.00 in certain products and you get $5.00 ECB
So I get
2 Speed Stick Deodorants
3 Soft Soaps
1 Irish Springs Body Wash
1 Soft Soap Body Wash
Totaling $15.00 dollars.
I have coupons for EVERY product. My coupons take off $4.00. So now my total is $11.00.
I hand over my $8.00 ECB from transaction #1 and my
Total OOP (out of pocket) is $3.00!!!
But I EARN $5.00 in ECB for my next transaction.
Another AWESOME CVS deal to note is that Electrosol is on sale for $2.99 (regularly $5.89) but there is a $2.50 coupon out there (but I THINK it expires TODAY!) I used two coupons and got 2 boxes (that were even 25% more for free! So I got 50 tablets!!!) for .99 cents! That would REGULARLY be almost $12.00!! Now, NORMALLY I just buy Cascade, but when I can try something new and DON'T have to buy the expensive OTHER product, I will. Then I just wait until I can work the product that I NORMALLY buy into a deal somewhere and get that for free! :)
CVS IS confusing and a bit scary to get started on. Plus your VERY first transaction stinks because you don't have ECBs to use so your OOP might be a little higher for that first one.

Now you're just bragging!
ReplyDeleteNo I'm not. I'm trying to make a point that CVS really is a money maker. Plus, a few people that have asked me about how I get things for free wanted an explanation and this was the only way to spell it out.
ReplyDeleteI was just kidding! And eager to learn your ways!
