A Not So Great Sale Week In Review

CVS
Total OOP=$4.05
Got $8.50 ECBs
I wasn't going to do the Mountain Dew/Pepsi deal..but then I figured out that the Iced Tea purchases at the gas station started up again since Rhyan ran out of pop at work..so I KNOW it will save me money in the long run. (Oh, BTW, Rhyan said, "BUT I HAVE NO COMMENT ON IF RYAN FINE IS BUYING THINGS AT THE GAS STATION! and that doesn't mean that he is!") Of course, I made this transaction and then out comes a $5/15 coupon on my reciept. But with all my ECBs and $5 more dollars off I should be able to come up with a pretty good deal to use that coupon.
Meijer
Total OOP=$24.74
The deals are slim this week at Meijer. They have some Yoplait yogurt on sale but I have to wait till I can access another computer before I can print that coupon since I've already printed my limit. The Airwick I-motion air fresheners came out to .79 after coupon and the other Airwick came to .99 after coupon. Since the deals were slim and my stockpile of other stuff should get me through (maybe for 3 years) I took advantage of some meat sales. I was able to get 2 meals worth of pork chops for about $5 and a "Gourmet Meatloaf" that was on Managers Markdown for $3.83. The hot dogs and Eckrich sausage were both on sale too...but no coupons. If you get the Classico spag. sauce make sure you print your Internet coupon AND your mealbox. Oh..hmm..I guess my little busy body pulled the grapes out of this picture before I got it taken. They have grapes for .99 cents a lbs too! :)

Meijer Gas Station
Total OOP=$0.00
The Mentos gum is on sale for .89 at the gas station (but not in stores). If you use the $1 off coupon it will be free. Unfortunately I didn't have the nicest cashier and after I convinced him to adjust the coupon down to .89 cents since the register wasn't taking it at $1.00, he ended up throwing bags and acting very unpleasant. Eh, ohwell, I scored 12 packs of gum and walked out without paying a penny! :)
(do you see the little hand that is just waiting to knock all these things over? They make WONDERFUL stacking blocks too! :))

TOTAL SPENT=$28.79
**I still need to stop at Krogers to get ground chuck ($1.49 lbs this week) a cantaloupe (.99) and 10 lbs bag of potatoes ($2.99). Plus my CVS trip to spend my $5/15. And one more trip to Meijers too to do the Ritz cracker deal (buy 2 crackers 2/$5 get a free milk. I have a coupon for a free box of Ritz crackers from the Kraft instant win game back around Superbowl time..so I can get 2 boxes and a milk for $2.50) We were already set for milk for this week and it would have expired before we got to it...and to get the Yoplait yogurt. So I'll go back Saturday to do the rest of my shopping.

CVS

I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN! If you remember back a couple weeks when I got some Crest Pro Health rebates at Kroger and sent them in for a free Crest Pro Health Toothpaste not because I needed MORE toothpaste but because I thought maybe CVS would run a ECB deal for this stuff and it would be a money maker. Well...this week it's free with ECBs...but OF COURSE my rebate hasn't came back yet! ARG! If I get this stuff today and my rebate comes later in the week...I might cry. (no seriously...that is $3.50!!!)

So right now my list looks like this (maybe...I'm still not sure about the Pepsi)
Crest ProHealth-$3.49
Schick Razor-$8.99
Pepsi-3/$11
Total=$24.50
-$1 Toothpaste coupon
-$4 Razor coupon
-$3.66 for flavored diet pepsi (if they have this kind. It's a printable coupon)
=$15.84
-$15 ECBs
=$0.84 OOP
GET $8.50 ECBs for next week

One Last "Week In Review" (for this week)

Target
Total OOP=$0.00
(oh..how I love $0.00 out of pocket!)

It wasn't really supposed to be a trip to actually find bargains. We just went with Mamaw because she was looking for Easter baskets...but I couldn't resist doing some pre-planning. They were running a "Buy 5 qualifying Quaker products and get a $5.00 gift card." The granola bars were on sale for $2 (then used a $1/2 coupon). The Hello Kitty Bandaids come out for free if you use the $1 Bandaid coupon from the Sunday inserts. They can be found in the travel section. The Dove hairspray was free too (travel size). I printed 2 Internet coupons (but now can't find what link I used.) The Cheetos are $1.29 (found them at the snack/food court place) and if you go to http://www.target.com/ and at the VERY bottom of the website it says "Grocery Coupons" there is a $1.00 off coupon. They only had one bag left or I would have got more for only 29 cents a bag. You can print Target coupons right from their kiosk in the store (where you would print a registry). There's a button to go straight to their website. It saves paper and ink on your home computer. Huggies wipes are only $5.99 still and they had a TON on the shelf so I used up all my $5.00 coupons. If anyone wants my CVS raincheck that I have for 6 more let me know and you can have it. I'm officially out of that AWESOME coupon.

**I should note that I had a $11.00 merchandise credit from a Halloween costume I returned (2 YEARS AGO!) and I kept forgetting to use it.

I did my Quaker transaction first and got my $5.00 gift card so I could apply that $5.00 and my remaining $4.50 on my next transaction and I STILL walked out with $2.50 left on my gift card! :)

Only 1 coupon insert in paper this week

There will only be one coupon insert in your papers this week (Smartsource). To see what the coupon schedule is you can go to http://www.grocerycouponguide.com/articles/2009-coupon-insert-schedule/. This will tell you how many inserts you should have. Although, last week there was a P&G that wasn't scheduled! What an awesome surprise!

*Note there will be a week in April with NO inserts. Watch not to waste your money on the paper that week. (well..I guess unless you really would like to stay up to date with current events...but who has time to do that when your couponing!?!? ;))

Total OOP=.59

The printable Dry Idea coupon is at http://www.coupons.com/

This coupon makes this deodorant only 99 cents but you get $2 ECBs. The limit in the ad says "Limit 1" but the real limit is 3. They only had 1 pack Huggies wipes for 99 cents so I snagged a raincheck.

The 1/2 gallon milk for 88 cents is an awesome deal. Plus those Activia yogurt drinks are only $1 after the Mega Sale and $1.00 coupons. Rhyan would have disowned me if I wouldn't have picked up bologna...so I splurged $3.99 (It was buy one get one free).

I don't normally do rebates because I find them to hard to understand but you could make some SERIOUS "jack" off this Lysol deal at Meijers if you added free money to already almost free products!!

http://www.lysol.com/products/productpromotions/pedia-rewards-08.html – purchase two different Lysol products between 1/1/08 to 3/31/09 and take your child to the Pediatrician. In order to get the $5 rebate you have to send in a receipt from taking your child to the pediatrician.
To get the $3 mail in rebate:
-Buy three (3) different LYSOL products between 3/15/09 and 5/15/09.
-Mail this completed form with all qualifying UPC information listed on requested spaces on the form.
-Mail the original dated store cash register receipt with your product purchases and prices circled.
-Register receipt must be dated between 3/15/09 and 5/15/09.
-LYSOL Neutra Air products not included in offer.
*$3.00 Mail-In Rebate valid 3/15/09 - 5/15/09. Open to legal U.S. residents excluding RI. Void where prohibited.
you can do this rebate and the $5 rebate as long as the items are purchased on two different receipts because you have to mail in the original receipts.

Thanks, Sarah!

My Sunday in Review

One of my favorite coupon sites posts her "Week in Review." I find it EXTREMELY motivating and inspiring to look at someone else's groceries each week and see how little she spent. So, I'm doing this post for a couple reasons. First, my goal for this blog is to try to save other people money, so if this helps someone to see what I did...great. If you find it annoying and strange to look at my groceries...skip this post and ignore it. Second, I've budgeted $60 a week for grocery and drugstore shopping. If I post this (and my other weekly shopping) then I'll feel more accountable to sticking to my budget. So, the way I see it, it's win-win. Others might think it's strange. I don't want ANYONE to think it's my way of "showing off" or bragging. I've been thinking about doing this type of a post ever since I saw other bloggers doing this but fretted that it would look conceited of me...but keeping true to myself and shrugging off what others may think...I'm posting. I'm not saying I'm the best at this or that you need to run out and get what I get. My INTENTION is that someone may look at a picture and it would spark them to say "OH! I have a coupon for that!" and next time they're in that store they can pick up that item. Oh, I'm also posting this today because I find when I look at other blogs "Week in Review" sometimes I get ticked off that I didn't find one of the deals pictured and it's too late because the sale has ended.

Meijer
Total Spent OOP=$8.13

Meijer is having an AWESOME sale with thier buy 10 items get the 11th free. But, I REALLY took advantage of their 1/2 price Lysol. Make sure you print the Meijer Mealbox coupon at www.meijermealbox before you go. ALSO REMEMBER that you can only use 1 of the same mealbox coupons in each transaction so do separate orders. Also don't forget that Meijer will only double two of the same coupons up to $1. So, for those Warm Delights and toothpaste, you can only buy 2 of them in one transaction to get them for free. (any question, like always, call, email, or comment.)

Kroger
Total Spent OOP=$3.80

Kroger is also having a "Mega Sale" where you buy 10 participating items and get $5 off instantly. I got 10 items and then ran out of time to put together another 10. Oh well, I had told myself that I was going to sit Krogers out for awhile and stick to only Meijer but couldn't resist all this stuff for under $4.

CVS
Total Spent OOP=$10.97
Got $14 ECBs for next week!

I was able to snag three Gentle Care wipes for 99 cents (after using the $5 off printable coupon)! I could have got my OOP lower if I would have put together more transactions but I didn't have the time and thought I had more left on my gift card than I really did. The Irish Spring, toothpaste, is free if you have ECBs to roll this week. The Dry Idea deodorant is a money maker. Print your coupon at www.coupons.com. It's $2.99 but use a $2 printable coupon and you pay 99 cents and get $2 back in ECBs.

Last stop,
Walgreens
TOTAL SPENT OOP=$2.66
I'm done with Walgreens. I find their sales too hard to understand and their Register Rewards can't be used to pay for tax and you can only use one at at time. So I'll shop there when I can get something for next to nothing, but I'm not going to put it on my weekly list of places to go.

I had to use up some Register Rewards that I got two weeks ago because I REFUSE to let free money get pitched.

The Walgreens diapers on are sale and with the pharmacy coupon they are 2/ $5. I scored some Pull-Ups and diapers and free candy. (I had to get the gum to use my RRs...again...it was one of those Walgreens scams to get more money out of me I think)

GRAND TOTAL FOR THE DAY

Free PC Tune Up

I had to stop into Staples this weekend and when I was checking out they offered me a "Free PC Tune Up." This is happening THIS Wednesday and Thursday. It is by appointment only. They said that it would be okay if I dropped off my tower on my way to school (they open at 8:00) and pick it up after school.

This was at the Sidney Staples but I'm not sure if Troy is offering this as well. It might be worth a call. They're checking for viruses, taking off the side panel and blowing out the dust, and running a program to clear off the unneeded junk to speed up performance. It is a $29.99 value.

CVS

I guess I was spoiled by Walgreens this week. I didn't put much work into CVS

I had to get a prescription filled and I had a coupon for a $25 gift card with a new prescription. WOOWHOO! So I'll have NO out of pocket expense at CVS for awhile! :)

Today this is how I "rolled" (well..I actually lost a couple ECBs)

4/$13 Coke products
Crest Pro Health-$2.99
-$1 Crest coupon=(more free toothpaste)
-$7.00 ECBs
=$9.67 (but NO OOP for me)
GOT $5 ECBs

**Side notes
-I picked up quite a few coupons at Kroger from a tearpad for a free Crest Pro Health toothpaste if you buy a toothpaste. If you end up doing the toothpaste deal listed above, comment, or email me and I'll get you one of the coupons to be mailed in. I wasn't even going to waste my stamp on more free toothpaste but I'm SURE that Walgreens are CVS will have ECBs or RR on these another time and then it would be a great money maker coupon to have.

-Herbel Essence is also on sale at CVS this week and works nicely with the coupon for $3/2 and the $1 ECB. I think total price would be around 40 cents. I didn't do this deal after getting 12 FREE bottles of Garnier at Walgreens, I couldn't even bring myself to spend another 40 cents on shampoo.

Cottonelle-too good to be true

Well..it looks like Kroger is not going to carry Cottonelle anymore. If you have any coupons left you might want to get there quick before it's gone. (If it's not already)

Walgreens

Garnier Fructis hair care - $2.99
- $2/1 from the Walgreens EasySaver Catalog
- $1/1 from the 1/4/09 or the 2/8/09 Red Plum insert
- Final price - Free

Glade Sense 'N Spray Kit - $7.99
- $4/1 from the Walgreens EasySaver Catalog
- $4/1 from the 2/8/09 Smart Source insert
- Final price - Free

Galde Plugins Scented Oil Lasting Impressions - $7.99
- $4/1 from the Walgreens EasySaver Catalog
- $3/1 from the 2/8/09 Smart Source insert
- Final price - $0.99

Colgate Total Advanced 4 oz. paste - $3.49
- $2.50/1 from the Walgreens EasySaver Catalog
- $1.50/1 from the March 2009 All You Magazine
- $1/1 printable coupon here
- Final price - Free

Plus the Huggies deal. I'm running short on time. I can't explain that right now. Basically, print the coupons.com high value coupons and you'll get pretty cheap diapers after Register Rewards.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Huggies Diaper Coupons have been RESET!!!

You can print two more copies of each of those high value Huggies coupons! This will work nice with the CVS deal starting on April 5th.

CVS Razor Deal

Gillette Fusion Power Phenom Double Play Shave Set - 1 razor, 1 cartridge, 1 battery & 1 shave gel upc 047400304727

Gillette Fusion Power Phenom Game Force College Tour - 1 razor, 1 cartridge, 1 battery, 1 shave gel & 1 Gillette 2in1 Body Wash upc 047400301009

Both are ringing up at the sale price of $7.99 and printing the $4ECB. Use the $4 Fusion qs to get them free!

Man..I found this AFTER I used all my Fusion coupons!!!

Walgreens...my new best friend

Walgreens is AWESOME! I'm tired so I can't make this too long but I did want to get out there about the diaper deal.

Their generic brand diapers are on sale 2/$9. AND...if you go the the pharmacy and say "I just signed up for the W Card online and I was told I could get a coupon book at the pharmacy." They will give you a book (it has a picture of the front of a Walgreens store on the front). That has a $2 coupon in it for the diapers.

Transaction #1
Get ONE pack (I was stupid and didn't think about this until I read it online...I bought 2 packs and WASTED $2.00!!! ARG!)
Total=$4.50
-$2.00
TOTAL OOP=$2.50!!!

HERE'S THE BEST PART. YOU KEEP THE COUPON! DON'T LET THEM TAKE IT! (I suggest NOT tearing it out. Just holding it out to scan STILL in the book. My cashier started to look at it like she was going to take it so I just said "These are reusable and good through June, I was told." Then she agreed that they were.

Take that out to your car and repeat the same thing buying another pack!! (I'm not sure that you should do two transaction right in a row with the same exact coupon. It's something with their system I think.)

THE OTHER GREAT THING ABOUT WALGREENS IS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE A CARD TO SCAN...SO THERE IS NO LIMITS ON ANYTHING!!! You could do this deal as many times as you wanted all week long!!

I HIGHLY recommend doing the Blink Eye drops (They are a $2.01 Money Maker) and the Colgate Max Toothpaste (rings up $3.29 -.75 coupon=$2.54 but you get $3.50 in Register Rewards! $1 Money Maker)

Walgreen Register Rewards

Alright..I KNOOOOW I said I was drawing the line and NOT starting to go to Walgreens too. But, I guess there is going to be some Huggies deal next week. So I checked out what I could do this week that might get me some "Register Rewards" (same thing as ECBs from CVS only different name) so I could save more money on diapers next week.

So, this is what I'm doing

Transaction #1
Colgate-$3.49 (GET $3.49 in register rewards)
Vaseline Lotion-$2.69 (Get $2 in register rewards)
=(about) $6.20
-.75/1 Colgate (2/22 Smartsource)
-$1.50 (1/18 Redplum)
TOTAL OOP=$4.00
GET $5.50 in RR (register rewards)

Transaction #2
Blink Eye Drops-$7.99 (GET $7.99 in Register rewards)
-$2.00 coupon (3/1 Redplum)
-$5.50 RR
TOTAL OOP=.50
GET $7.99 for Huggies deal next week

So, for about $4.50 this week I have $7.99 next week! :)

My CVS Rollin' Week of 3/1

This is my game plan for this week.

Transaction #1
Carnation Instant Breakfast-$4.99
Slimshots Energy Drink-$4.99
2-Act Total Care-$1.98

Total=(about $12.00)
-$1.00 Carnation Instant Breakfast coupon (from Jan. All You mag)
-$12.00 ECBs (this will pay for the tax too)
TOTAL OOP=$0.00
Get $12.00 ECBS back for transaction #2
I'm really only doing this transaction because I can literally "roll" my last week's ECBs onto this week and not lose a single one of them. I'll donate the items. (actually Rhyan's considering feeding the instant breakfast to his sale pigs instead of buying EXPENSIVE Ensure drinks)

Transaction #2
8 Reese Whips bars (I'm buying these to send with Rhyan to work, SO HE STOPS MAKING STOPS AT THE GAS STATIONS!!!) $4.00
Gillette Razor $7.99
6x8 Photo Book-$9.99
Total=$22.00
-$1/2 Reese Whips (1/4 Smartsource) x 4
-$4 Gillette Razor coupon
-$3 Photo Book Coupon (from reciept coupon)
-$$12.00 ECBs (extra will pay for tax)
Total $0.00 OOP
GET $4.00 ECBS for next week

I'm losing ECBs this week...but with $0.00 OOP TWICE this week..I'll accept that. (although next week I'm sure I'll be ticked off at myself. I'll just pull out my free photo book and get over it! :))
