My Sunday in Review

One of my favorite coupon sites posts her "Week in Review." I find it EXTREMELY motivating and inspiring to look at someone else's groceries each week and see how little she spent. So, I'm doing this post for a couple reasons. First, my goal for this blog is to try to save other people money, so if this helps someone to see what I did...great. If you find it annoying and strange to look at my groceries...skip this post and ignore it. Second, I've budgeted $60 a week for grocery and drugstore shopping. If I post this (and my other weekly shopping) then I'll feel more accountable to sticking to my budget. So, the way I see it, it's win-win. Others might think it's strange. I don't want ANYONE to think it's my way of "showing off" or bragging. I've been thinking about doing this type of a post ever since I saw other bloggers doing this but fretted that it would look conceited of me...but keeping true to myself and shrugging off what others may think...I'm posting. I'm not saying I'm the best at this or that you need to run out and get what I get. My INTENTION is that someone may look at a picture and it would spark them to say "OH! I have a coupon for that!" and next time they're in that store they can pick up that item. Oh, I'm also posting this today because I find when I look at other blogs "Week in Review" sometimes I get ticked off that I didn't find one of the deals pictured and it's too late because the sale has ended.

Meijer
Total Spent OOP=$8.13

Meijer is having an AWESOME sale with thier buy 10 items get the 11th free. But, I REALLY took advantage of their 1/2 price Lysol. Make sure you print the Meijer Mealbox coupon at www.meijermealbox before you go. ALSO REMEMBER that you can only use 1 of the same mealbox coupons in each transaction so do separate orders. Also don't forget that Meijer will only double two of the same coupons up to $1. So, for those Warm Delights and toothpaste, you can only buy 2 of them in one transaction to get them for free. (any question, like always, call, email, or comment.)

Kroger
Total Spent OOP=$3.80

Kroger is also having a "Mega Sale" where you buy 10 participating items and get $5 off instantly. I got 10 items and then ran out of time to put together another 10. Oh well, I had told myself that I was going to sit Krogers out for awhile and stick to only Meijer but couldn't resist all this stuff for under $4.

CVS
Total Spent OOP=$10.97
Got $14 ECBs for next week!

I was able to snag three Gentle Care wipes for 99 cents (after using the $5 off printable coupon)! I could have got my OOP lower if I would have put together more transactions but I didn't have the time and thought I had more left on my gift card than I really did. The Irish Spring, toothpaste, is free if you have ECBs to roll this week. The Dry Idea deodorant is a money maker. Print your coupon at www.coupons.com. It's $2.99 but use a $2 printable coupon and you pay 99 cents and get $2 back in ECBs.

Last stop,
Walgreens
TOTAL SPENT OOP=$2.66
I'm done with Walgreens. I find their sales too hard to understand and their Register Rewards can't be used to pay for tax and you can only use one at at time. So I'll shop there when I can get something for next to nothing, but I'm not going to put it on my weekly list of places to go.

I had to use up some Register Rewards that I got two weeks ago because I REFUSE to let free money get pitched.

The Walgreens diapers on are sale and with the pharmacy coupon they are 2/ $5. I scored some Pull-Ups and diapers and free candy. (I had to get the gum to use my RRs...again...it was one of those Walgreens scams to get more money out of me I think)

GRAND TOTAL FOR THE DAY
$25.56

  1. I love it!! And last time I checked we lived in America and no one was FORCED to read a blog. If anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to read it.
    THANKS!!!

  2. One other thing, for CVS I find it VERY helpful when you break down your transactions. If it's not too much trouble would you mind including that?
    THANKS!!

  3. Will do, Sarah. I did do all that in one transaction this time but next week if I do different ones, I'll break it down. If I don't, just email me your list and what coupons and ECBs you have to use and I'll put it together for you. (I know you know this already, Sarah, but I'm putting it out there for anyone else.) SERIOUSLY, I believe in this. I don't dread getting our credit cards statements anymore and I want more people to feel like that!

  6. They are DenTek floss picks. They're free after the 50 cent coupon. They got me to 10 items so I could get my ravioli (that I didn't have a coupon for) for free.
